Integrated Coal Operations

An operational platform that connects coal contracts, shipments, plant stock, billing, and monitoring workflows into one data-backed system.

Problems we had to solve

  • Coal operations were distributed across multiple tools, source systems, manual documents, and team-specific tracking files.
  • Contract realization, shipment status, billing, quality checks, and plant stock needed to be seen together, not as separate reports.
  • Operational updates had to flow back into analytical models without creating another disconnected application database.

What we implemented

  • Designed an integrated operational platform backed by normalized entities for contracts, suppliers, shipments, vessels, plants, and invoices.
  • Connected operational modules to shared warehouse models so monitoring, reporting, and planning workflows use consistent data.
  • Implemented workflow views for users to track exceptions, update statuses, and inspect operational context from one interface.

Architecture

How the project is structured technically.

01

Operational modules

Domain modules cover plant management, vendor management, mining operations, contract management, planning and coal allocation strategy, shipment management, and billing management.

02

Event synchronization

Operational updates are captured, we ensure data is aligned and synced realtime accross modules, including from existing PLN's core systems from BBO and SILM.

03

Warehouse feedback loop

The platform reads curated warehouse data and writes normalized operational outcomes back for BI, P2EP, and ML workflows.
